Bugs on Screen Prank

Ants march across the screen, a spider drops down on its thread, a fly buzzes around and lands, a cockroach dashes for cover when your finger gets close. Tap to squash them with a satisfying splat, play the 30 second squash game, or switch to cat mode and let your cat hunt. All drawn live in your browser, all fake.

How to use it

  1. Pick the bugs: ants, spiders, flies, cockroaches, or a mix.
  2. Choose how many, how big, and what the screen shows underneath: white, black, any color, or your own image.
  3. Press Start full screen. Tap or click a bug to squash it. Press Space to add another bug.
  4. Press Esc to exit. On a phone, tap and use the small Esc button in the top right corner.

Three ways to play

  • Prank. Bugs wander in from the edges and keep coming. Set First bug shows up to 1 minute and They arrive to one every 10 seconds, start it on a friend's screen, and walk away. It starts as a plain screen and slowly gets infested. Bugs run from the mouse pointer (cockroaches are the fastest), which makes them hard to catch.
  • Squash game. 30 seconds, as many bugs as you can. They speed up as the clock runs down. Your best score is kept on this device.
  • Cat mode. Bigger, slower bugs that stop and start a lot, on whatever background you choose. Nothing gets squashed when a paw lands on the screen, and taps just make the bugs scurry. Add a red laser dot for extra chaos. Lay the tablet flat on the floor and keep an eye on claws.

Tips for the ants in the phone prank

  • Use their screen. Take a screenshot of your friend's home screen, choose My image and load it. The bugs then crawl over what looks like their own phone. The image stays on this device and is not uploaded.
  • Life size is scarier than big. A couple of small ants near the edge get a better reaction than a swarm.
  • Go fully full screen. On iPhone, add the page to your Home Screen first so there is no address bar.
  • Sound. In full screen, flies buzz and squashes squish. Turn the volume up for flies, down for ants.

Are the bugs real videos?

No. Every bug is drawn and animated live in your browser, with moving legs and its own way of moving: ants march, spiders drop on a thread and hang, flies fly and land, cockroaches dash and freeze.

How do I get the bugs off my screen?

Press Esc, or tap and use the small Esc button in the top right corner. Clean the screen removes the squash marks. Nothing stays on the device after you close the page.

Is cat mode safe for my screen?

The page cannot protect the glass from claws. Stay nearby, use a screen protector or case, and put the tablet flat on the floor so it cannot fall.

Can I choose only spiders or only flies?

Yes. Pick one kind or Mixed, from 1 to 40 bugs, in three sizes.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. Tap the bugs to squash them. On many Android phones you also feel a short buzz when you squash one.
