Aquarium Screen

A calm fish tank that lives in your browser. Clownfish, angelfish, goldfish, tangs and a school of neon fish swim between swaying plants and rising bubbles. Tap to drop food and watch them race for it. Cat mode turns it into cat TV.

In full screen, tap or click anywhere to drop food where you tap.

Fewer, bigger, faster fish in bold colors on a dark tank, which are easier for a cat to follow. Keep your cat's claws in mind around a TV or tablet.

Generated live in your browser, so it never loops.

How to use it

  1. Pick how many fish you want, from 3 to 40. With 8 or more, some of them swim together as a school.
  2. Click the tank or press F for full screen.
  3. In full screen, tap or click anywhere to drop food at that spot. The nearest fish swim over and eat it. The space bar drops food too.
  4. Press Esc or the Exit button (it appears when you move the mouse or tap) to leave full screen.

The fish never follow a fixed path. Each one picks its own spots to swim to, so the tank looks different every time you look up.

Cat TV: using the aquarium as a game for cats

Some cats watch moving fish on a screen closely and try to paw at them, others ignore screens completely. Cat mode is made for the ones who watch:

  • At most 7 fish, so each one is easy to follow.
  • Bigger fish that dart off suddenly, then slow down.
  • Bold yellow, blue, white and orange fish with strong outlines on a dark tank.

Tips: lay a tablet flat on the floor or put a laptop on a low table, turn the brightness down a little, and stay nearby the first few times. Claws can scratch a screen, so a screen protector helps. Keep sessions short and end with a real toy the cat can catch.

Put the fish tank on your TV

  • Smart TV browser: open this page on the TV and choose Full screen.
  • Cast from Chrome: on a computer, open the Chrome menu, choose Cast, pick the TV and cast this tab.
  • HDMI: connect a laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable, move this window to the TV and go full screen.
  • AirPlay: mirror an iPhone, iPad or Mac to an AirPlay TV.

While the tank is in full screen, the page asks your device to keep the screen awake, so it should not dim or lock. On battery, some power saving modes ignore that, so plug in for long sessions.

Questions

Is this a real fish tank video?

No. Every fish, plant and bubble is drawn live by your browser, so it never loops and starts instantly without downloading a video.

How do I feed the fish?

In full screen, tap or click where you want the food to fall. Outside full screen, use the Feed the fish button. Fish nearby swim to the food and eat it, and uneaten flakes settle on the sand and fade away.

Is it a good game for cats?

Many cats enjoy watching moving fish, but not every cat is interested. Try Cat mode, which has fewer, bigger and faster fish in bold colors. Watch your cat the first time so it does not knock the device over or scratch the screen.

Does the aquarium have sound?

Yes, a soft bubbling sound made live in your browser. It is off until you turn it on, and you can set the volume.

How do I exit full screen?

Press Esc, or move the mouse or tap the screen and use the Exit button in the corner.
